Emily Kumpf is a Boyertown graduate and very excited to be teaching in her hometown!  After starting the violin in 3rd grade, she quickly realized her love of music.  It was during her senior year of high school, when she began teaching private lessons to elementary students, her passion for teaching really developed.  Emily holds a Bachelors of Music in Music Education from Elizabethtown College and a Masters of Music in Orchestral Conducting from Messiah University.  Upon graduation from Elizabethtown in 2013, Emily taught 4th-12th grade strings for Cecil County Public Schools in Northeastern Maryland.  During that time, she also had a large private studio of violin, viola, and cello students, where they consistently earned Superior ratings at District and State Solo and Ensemble festivals.  Returning to Pennsylvania in 2018, she is now the Director of Orchestras at Palisades Middle School and High School in Upper Bucks County.   Aside from teaching, Emily has performed with the Susquehanna Symphony Orchestra, as well as numerous pit orchestras throughout the Greater Philadelphia and Lehigh Valley areas.

Emily loves teaching private lessons because it provides a safe space for students to explore their musical talents and gives her an opportunity to watch her student’s musicianship grow. Emily is happy to be back in her hometown teaching where her love of music first began!
