Guitar Calisthenics
Learn Guitar the Fun Way

Special 8-week class with Russ Ferrara

Starting Jan 6, 2026

Inspired by the energy of an aerobics class, Guitar Calisthenics gets students playing together from day one. No waiting your turn or practicing alone—this fast-paced, highly motivating group class keeps everyone engaged and improving together.

What You'll Learn: Students dive into all aspects of guitar: chord accompaniment, melodic playing, standard notation, tablature reading, and improvisation, starting at the very beginning! The repertoire features beloved American folk songs and spirituals that are fun to play and easy to recognize, but the skills can be applied to any style, whether your goal is classical, rock, jazz, or pop!

Who Is It For? Designed for beginners, this class welcomes students at any skill level with the understanding that we start from the ground up. The curriculum teaches core fundamentals every guitarist needs. Beginners will develop proper technique from the start, while experienced players will benefit from the thoroughness of the approach and refine their skills in a supportive group environment.

Developed by faculty member Russell Ferrara during his 20+ years teaching guitar at the college level, this method creates a positive, encouraging atmosphere where students motivate each other and grow together.

Note: Students will learn both standard notation and tablature, with emphasis on reading standard notation.
