About Groove Kids

  • Ideal for students who are interested in music and ready to learn about a variety of instruments, including singing, piano, ukulele, and percussion! (For a piano-focused program, check out Little Mozarts Piano and for a vocal program, see Singing Time.)

  • Schedule: Meets weekly from Sept through mid-to-late May. The studio is closed for major holidays.

  • Location: Offered at one or more of our studio locations in Boyertown, PA.

  • Ages: 4-7

  • Class size: Classes typically have between 3 and 8 students.

  • Performance Opportunities: This class performs at least twice a year - at the Snowfall Serenade and the Annual Collective Harmony Spring Concert.

  • Performance Attire: No special ensemble attire for this group - anything that is dressy and appropriate to the event!

What Do We Do In
Groove Kids?

  • Play rhythm games to develop a steady beat & practice introductory rhythm reading skills

  • Work on fundamental posture and hand position for different instruments, including piano and ukulele

  • Identify pitch characteristics such as high and low

  • Distinguish between dynamics like loud and quiet

  • Explore various percussion instruments

  • Learn to play single-finger chords and down strums on the ukulele

  • Play boom whackers to learn how different rhythms can be used

  • Build recognition of melodies to popular and traditional songs

  • Establish a strong introduction to music-making

  • Groove Kids students follow along using Boom Whackers to keep the beat in a song.
