June 2019 Arts for Autism: Treble Choir, Honor Choir, Berks Vocal Arts
Based on our performance in NYC this year, we have been invited to perform on Broadway in 2019 as part of the gala event, Autism Speaks. Details of the invitation and our June 2019 trip:
Every night New York City’s world renowned Broadway theatres bustle with thousands of patrons excited to see the world’s most talented actors and musicians perform. It is every musical theatre actor's dream to make it to New York and perform on Broadway. We have an opportunity that will make that dream a reality for one special day!
Let me start from the beginning… Three years ago Believe NYC began plans for the very first Arts for Autism Benefit Concert. We auditioned talented choirs, dance ensembles, and musical theatre groups from around the country to participate in a one night benefit concert raising money for Autism Speaks. We selected the top five groups to perform alongside dozens of Broadway actors during the ninety minute concert hosted by Tony award winner and Broadway star, Kelli O’Hara. The night was magical. More than 150 students made their Broadway debut along with Gianna Hitsos, a young singer on the autism spectrum who was also invited to perform. The performance took place at the Gershwin Theatre, home to Broadway’s production of Wicked for almost 15 years and the Musical Theatre Hall of Fame. The show is dark on Monday nights and that’s when our event takes place. The show was moving, the message was powerful and the audience was delighted.
Our second show one year later was even more magical than the first and included original Hamilton cast members, Christopher Jackson and Okieriete Onaodowan as well as Tony Nominee Stephanie J. Block and many more. Now, we’re excited for our third annual performance coming up on June 25th, 2018!
As we prepare for this year's show, we are also looking to the future for talented, dynamic young artists to join us in June of 2019. After seeing your group during their workshop last January, I would like to invite your school to perform. I’ve included a number of links to information and videos about the event below.
